House of the Dragon Season 2 Release Date Announced

HBO's prequel to Game of Thrones returns in mid-June

HBO has officially announced the release date for House of the Dragon Season 2. The highly anticipated prequel series to Game of Thrones will premiere on June 16, 2023, at 9 pm EST.

The second season of House of the Dragon will consist of 10 episodes, which will air weekly on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max. The season will continue to follow the story of House Targaryen, set 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. The series will explore the internal succession war within the house at the height of its power.

Season 1 of House of the Dragon premiered on August 21, 2022, and was a critical and commercial success. The series was renewed for a second season just five days after its premiere. Miguel Sapochnik departed as showrunner after the first season, leaving Ryan Condal as the sole showrunner for Season 2.
